Domiciliary Care Worker Registration
How will Covid-19 affect registration with Social Care Wales?
How will Covid-19 affect registration with Social Care Wales?
The Coronavirus pandemic and subsequent lockdown have had significant effects across the care industry and its workers. In response to this difficult time, the registration process with Social Care Wales has altered to accommodate for the current challenges faced by services and workers.
The online registration system is still available for applications, although Domiciliary care workers will be given more time to complete this process. Additionally, it might take slightly longer for Social Care Wales to process these applications.
Whilst registration may not be at the forefront of everyone’s mind, it is still a necessity if you want to work in the care industry in Wales. As a result of the new challenges brought about by the current situation, domiciliary care workers will now have up to a year from their start date to register with Social Care Wales (instead of six months). As a domiciliary care worker, you will still be able to practice and continue working as normal.
The lockdown period presents an opportunity to focus on professional development through online training. EdgeWorks have created the very first Fast-Track ‘Principles and Values’ award, a key component of the registration process. This is available online, via our dedicated learning platform, Care Academy. Care Academy is a user-friendly learning solution that removes the need for traditional workbooks, subsequently reducing the cost of training. Care Academy enables managers to easily assign training courses and monitor staff progress. We are the only provider to offer access to All Wales Induction Framework (AWIF) online training. Our programme is accepted by Social Care Wales as evidence of completion for mandatory registration purposes.
