We’re launching a dedicated SCW Care Worker Registration micro-learning course

Automatically generate evidence log to support Welsh care worker registration

Published on June 26th, 2023

EdgeWorks is excited to announce we are currently developing a dedicated SCW Care Worker Registration micro-learning course. The course will enable Welsh Social Care employers to quickly and easily meet the requirements for registering new staff via the ‘employer assessment’ route.

The SCW Care Worker Registration micro-learning course

The course will be available in July, and best of all, we are making this available FREE OF CHARGE with every Care Academy account.

The SCW Care Worker Registration course builds on our successful online AWIF programme providing a dedicated and comprehensive micro-learning programme to simplify the registration process for new employees who do not have an existing qualification.

Complete learning

Learners completing the course will be able to demonstrate their understanding of the following requirements:

  1. The Code of Professional Practice for Social Care.
  2. The principles of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014.
  3. How to work in ways that embed rights-based and person/child-centred approaches in day-to-day practice.
  4. How to promote and respect equality, diversity and inclusion.
  5. How to use a range of communication methods and adapt communication approaches.
  6. The importance of the Welsh language, culture and identity for those they are supporting.
  7. How the worker’s beliefs, values and own experiences can affect their attitude and behaviour, and how this can affect others.
  8. How to promote and support the safeguarding of individuals.

The EdgeWorks difference

Once completed, our learning platform Care Academy automatically produces the required evidence log which can be downloaded, allowing managers to submit their documents to Social Care Wales with confidence, making it really simple to complete the registration endorsement.

Following registration, staff can then progress automatically onto their online AWIF programme which also needs to be completed as part of their ongoing training and development. It is perhaps worth re-iterating that the available workbooks only support a part of the overall requirement, whereas our learning, assessment and observation toolkit is mapped directly to the full AWIF framework.
