Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training Tier 1

The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism (Tier 1) is the government’s preferred and recommended training package for meeting the statutory learning disability and autism training requirement introduced through the Health and Care Act 2022.

EdgeWorks delivers Part 2 of the Tier 1 training in partnership with approved NHS providers, ensuring participants receive the nationally recognised training delivered in line with the current Oliver McGowan delivery model.

Before attending the interactive session, learners complete the nationally provided e-learning (Part 1). The course is completed through a live online interactive session (Part 2), co-delivered with experts with lived experience and approved facilitators.

Who should attend?

Tier 1 is suitable for staff who:

Require a general awareness of learning disability and autism.
May have occasional contact with autistic people or people with a learning disability.
Do not routinely provide care or support as part of their role.

Employers are responsible for determining which tier is appropriate for each member of staff.

OMMT Tier 2 training is also available.
