Adults are increasingly using technology in formal and informal learning

Published on June 5th, 2008

Research from NIACE and Becta has reported that there is an increase in organisations turning to technology to enrich learning experiences. This is mainly a result of companies recognising the numerous rewards that technological based learning can offer their staff and their organisation.

In response to this news, Adult Learners’ Week in May focused heavily the use of technology along with the potential it holds in enabling learning anywhere, anytime and anyplace. Something which Becta recognise, saying:

“Technology makes learning more exciting and interesting. Gone are the days when chalk and a blackboard were the only learning tools in a classroom. Technology allows students with families or jobs to learn in a more flexible way. Resources can be accessed online 24-7, meaning learners can fit their studies around their busy lives.”
