Relying on Excel can seriously damage your training and compliance

The UK government recently lost almost 16,000 positive coronavirus test results primarily because they were relying on the use of Microsoft’s Excel XLS format to underpin their data processing. This would almost be laughable if wasn’t so serious.
Everybody knows that Excel is not designed to support business-critical data right?
Yet sadly we continue to see many organisations operating across health, housing, and social care doing just that. Organisations of all shapes and sizes are still relying on manual processing of critical data within Excel to manage information such as training records and compliance reports. More alarmingly some are making key decisions based on this potentially flawed data.
That’s just such an inefficient way to operate – the vast amount of time and effort required to manually update Excel is just simply wasted man-hours that could be better used focusing on more productive tasks.
Many of our clients typically have complex training matrices covering induction, refresher, and specialist training with integrated policy and procedure documents. It’s not uncommon for even the most basic training matrix to include between 50 -100 elements for each individual covering e-learning, competency assessments, classroom training, policy documents, and much more. So, for even the smallest employer with just a few staff, the management and administration effort required to stay on top becomes mind-boggling difficult to control very quickly.
But it doesn’t have to be that way.
Here at EdgeWorks™, we have been working with health, housing, and social care clients for more than 20 years and we have developed our unique learning platform, Care Academy, to process all these tasks (and more). We can automate all of your repetitive and time-consuming tasks and help you prioritise what’s most important via our integrated manager dashboard.
We know what works and what doesn’t and we can help fast-track your training and compliance strategy, free up your valuable team time and improve your overall productivity.
